In order to allow time for exchange of correspondence and evaluation
of all necessary documents, international students should request
application forms 10 to 12 months before enrolling at Hudson
Valley Community College. For admissions, all international students
must:
- Complete application forms FSA-1 (Personal Data Form), FSA-2 (Autobiographical
Essay), and FSA-3 (English Proficiency Report).
- Display proficiency in English by either: a) taking the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and obtaining a minimum score of 500 on the Paper-Based Test, or a minimum score of 173 on the Computer-Based Test; or b) taking the Advanced Placement International English Exam (APIEL) and obtaining a minimum score of "3."
- Submit a translated copy of all academic credentials (including
and beyond secondary level). Once all required documents have been
satisfactorily
submitted and the application for admission is complete, the student's
file will be reviewed for acceptance to the college. A Form I-20 Certificate
of Eligibility for Non-immigrant (F-1) student will be issued concurrent
with an acceptance letter to the college.
- After being accepted to Hudson Valley Community College, students who will need an F-1 Visa or are already in F-1 Immigration Status will need to obtain a Form I-20 from Hudson Valley Community College. Please note that the Form I-20 issuance process occurs only after the student has been accepted to Hudson Valley Community College.
PLEASE NOTE: International Students are not eligible for any federal or state-based financial assistance while attending Hudson Valley Community College. However, there are opportunities for campus-based scholarships and on-campus employment for International Students. Inquire in the International Students Office for more information.
